The quantum physics as it is today (because the concepts about ultimate reality keep changing) tells us that something can and does exist in more than one places at the same time.
Quantum theory also tells us that things can exist as wave and matter at the same time. In fact, it has been proved that things can change their state the way you look at it!
Oriental concepts of life (which are taken as metaphysical or fictional because there is no good understanding of the underlying wisdom) talk of consciousness as omnipresent. It also says, we humans are an integral part of it. It should be possible for humans, with use of correct tools and techniques) to exist in different forms. You can say, it should be possible to have a living ghost of ourselves that transcends our bodily existence.
